The Jason Jerome Memorial Scholarship is created to continue Jason’s legacy and to honor the memory of this
remarkable detective of the highest character.
Jason Jerome was a treasured Detective Investigator at the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office when he passed away unexpectedly at the young age of 44. He previously worked for the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office and the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance’s Revenue Crimes Bureau. Prior to his career in law enforcement, he earned a B.A. in Criminal Justice and a Master’s Degree in Public Policy.
Jason was a tremendously resourceful detective, who excelled at financial crimes, tax investigations and identity takeovers. As new types of crimes emerged, Jason was never intimidated, he quickly became an expert in the dark web, designer drugs and cryptocurrencies. His passion, work ethic, and his conviction to do the right thing led him to be the driving force in hundreds of investigations, including the SAT Cheating Scandal. Jason was an extraordinary team player, who helped every bureau and had connections with law enforcement agencies around New York. Jason also cared deeply for victims, working late into the night to recoup their stolen money. He always showed interest and dedication to his work and worked long hours using his skills to help victims recover mentally and financially.
Scholarship Established
Jason’s love for the gym and the CrossFit community was apparent. He was the best teammate anyone could have asked
for! He became a CrossFit trainer, not to start a second career, but to better support his friends. He was a great athlete,
an amazing powerlifter and was great at encouraging others. He faced every physical challenge with a legendary laugh
that filled the “box” and a declaration that he was “living the dream.” Jason participated in many CrossFit competitions,
the Spartan race and ran the Michael Murphy Run benefiting Long Island Veterans every year and encouraged his friends
and family to join him.
Jason was always there for his friends and family. Whether lending a helping hand, checking in or supporting our
endeavors he was a huge part of many of our lives. He was known as the Greatest Uncle to his nieces and nephews,
always stepping away to play football, lacrosse, hockey, basketball or catch with them and it was the same for the children
of his training partners at CrossFit.
Not a day goes by that Jason’s goodness doesn’t shine through all of us that knew him, he made everyone a better person. He served the people of Nassau and Suffolk County and the State of New York with dedication and passion and left his mark of incredible kindness upon this earth.
The Jason Jerome Memorial Scholarship is created to continue Jason’s legacy and to honor the memory of this
